So its mothers day and it was just me and my mum this year since my sister was in Thailand so i wanted to make it special. My mum came round and I greeted her with a card, box of chocolates, cup of tea & cakes I had made the night before! After spending most of the day talking, eating cakes and looking on google maps (its more fun than think) she went home to get ready, I had a nap then got ready then we headed off into Kingston to have a look round the shops and go for dinner!
This year we decided to go to our favorite Italian (you can tell from my blog I LOVE Italian!) Called Al Forno's. I've been going here since I was about 14 years old and you just can't beat it! It's an authentic Italian restaurant located on the river Thames and has wholesome Italian cooking.
As soon as you step through the door the staff are so welcoming and friendly and make you feel at home and relaxed, one of the best things about the restaurant (apart from the food) is probably the staff! We sat down ordered some white wine and a starter. For a starter we ordered a bruschetta to share since we didn't want to get full up.. This was my first time trying this since I'm more of a garlic bread kind of girl but this was lovely, I'm not a fan of tomatoes but i ate them on this and LOVED it.. defiantly recommended it.
For my main course I ordered a spaghetti bolegnase and when it arrived I was blown away, the portion size was huge so you really get your moneys worth and for £8 something you really do get a lot and its so worth it.. it was cooked so nice and the flavors were lovely, best bolegnase I've had in ages!
My mum had a spicy tomato arrabiata, she said it was lovely but still sirenas who i wrote about in my last food reviews arrabiata topped it but it was still lovely and she really enjoyed it. I've never tried this dish since I'm not keen of spicy food but I did try a bit and did enjoy it and would consider getting it myself next time!
After all this food witch we both finished because it was too nice to leave we had a ten minuet break and then looked at the desert and coffee menu.. I ordered some chocolate gilato (ice cream) and my mum ordered a coffee..
Ice cream was delicious and looks smaller than it is we both had to tuck into it to finish it!
Over all I cannot praise this restaurant enough from the food, to the staff, the the atmosphere it was all amazing and such a experience.. All of this food and wine Came to £37 with I think is AMAZING and was actually shocked it was so cheap for the quality of the food you just can't beat it and will reccomened to anyone in the kingston/ south west London or London area that fancies something new..
this is the menu http://www.alfornokingston.co.uk/ I hope you give it a go!
xoxo
